Research & Evaluation
Te Ora Hou in partnership with
the Families Commission recently surveyed rangatahi involved
with our local centres. Download: Rangatahai
Engagement Report 2008
Other recent research undertaken
by TOH indicates that across the country more than half of all
work undertaken on behalf of Te Ora Hou is unpaid. One centre
has no paid staff and in two others at least two thirds of the
work is voluntary. On average Te Ora Hou people put in at least
eight hours of unpaid time per week.
Two thirds of Te Ora Hou workers
attend a church service at least once a month, one quarter of
TOH workers have been involved with the organisation for more
than 10 years and a similar number have conversations in Te Reo
at home on a regular basis.
Three quarters of people involved
with Te Ora Hou have conversations on a daily or weekly basis
with young people in their community about their future and issues
they are having at school, work and home. 10% of Te Ora Hou youth
workers have local young people come into their home on average
every second day.
